To provide academic enhancement services for up to 270 eligible students with disabilities who are “at risk” for achieving academic and career success

Policy

Annually, 270 eligible TRiO Student Support Services (SSS) project participants with disabilities are selected to receive non-mandated academic support services based on individual need. Selection criteria include disability, low GPA or academic deficiencies, financial need, or other “at risk” factors. Students chosen for this program must actively participate in TRiO activities and follow TRiO regulations. One-third of the selected participants must meet the federal low-income criteria. Services are contingent upon availability of federal grant funds.

Support services include:

  1. individualized academic tutoring
  2. instructional support
  3. transitional life coaching
  4. personal development workshops
  5. computer training in the Hewlett Packard Adaptive Technology Center
  6. facilitation of financial aid counseling
  7. career development
  8. cultural enrichment activities
  9. graduate school consultation

    and

  10. summer transition program.
