Policy

[horizontal rule]

The financial aid administrator may approve changes on a student’s file. Such decisions must be made on a case-by-case basis and documented. They must relate to special circumstances that differentiate that student from other students. Circumstances affecting the student’s estimated family contribution that may cause the counselor to make changes are: loss of income, loss of benefits, divorce/separation/death of spouse (or parent), debts incurred by unemployment, failed business, bankruptcy, loss of assets, legal fees, child care expenses, funeral expenses, educational loans, medical/dental/optical expenses, loss of extended family support, or other circumstances affecting the student’s or family’s ability to contribute to the student’s educational expenses.
