Policy
Contribution of dollars toward a student’s cost of
attendance is determined with the following considerations:
Academic-Year Contribution
The following guidelines apply to students enrolled nine to 12
months a year.
Dependent-Status Student
- Parent Contribution
- The parent contribution is based on income, assets, and other
household information provided to the central processor for
analysis. This analysis determines the parent contribution.
- Student Contribution
- In addition to the parent contribution, a dependent student is
expected to contribute from earnings and resources.
Independent-Status Student
- Contribution of Students without Dependents
- The contribution of students without dependents is based on
income, assets, and other household information provided to the
central processor for analysis. This analysis determines the
student’s contribution.
- Contribution of Students with Dependents (including both
married and single students with dependents)
- The contribution of students with dependents is based on
income, assets, and other household information provided to the
central processor for analysis. This analysis determines the
student’s contribution.
Contribution for Periods Other than
Academic-Year Enrollment
The following guidelines apply only to students enrolled for one
to eight months a year.
Dependent-Status Student
- Parent Contribution
- The academic-year contribution is divided by nine months and
then multiplied by the number of months of enrollment.
- Student Contribution
- The dependent student contribution is not prorated.
Independent-Status Student
The academic-year contribution is divided by nine months and
then multiplied by the number of months of enrollment.
