Policy
The Upward Bound Program is offered only at the Tempe
campus.
An individual is eligible to participate in an Upward Bound
project if he or she:
- meets one of the following criteria:
- is a citizen or national of the United States
- is a permanent resident of the United States
- provides evidence from Immigration and Naturalization Service that he or she is in the United States for other than a
temporary purpose with the intention of becoming a citizen or
permanent resident
or
- is a permanent resident of the trust territories of the Pacific
Islands
- is, at the time of initial selection, a potential
first-generation college student or a low-income individual
- has a need for academic support in order to successfully pursue
an educational program beyond high school
and
- has completed at the time of initial selection, the eighth
grade but has not entered the twelfth grade and is at least 13
years old but not older than 19.
| Note: |
At the time of initial selection, two-thirds of the eligible
individuals must qualify as low-income individuals and potential
first-generation college students. The remaining one-third must
qualify as either low-income individuals or potential
first-generation college students. |
