SSM 701–10: Accommodations for Pregnant Students

To assist faculty and staff in providing reasonable accommodations to pregnant students

ASU does not discriminate against any student on the basis of pregnancy. In an effort to allow students to return to the same academic status as before the pregnancy leave began, if medically necessary, the following accommodations are among those available:

Excused Absences
Allowances for frequent trips to the rest room
Opportunity to make up missed work
University accommodations that those with temporary disabilities receive, such as on–campus transportation
Approval of Medical/Compassionate Withdrawals

Each situation will be evaluated individually to determine what accommodations are appropriate given the medical necessity and the temporal requirements of class assignments (clinical rotations, group work, etc.).
