SSM 201–13 Table

The student must complete and submit a petition to take a course for the third time to the standards committee of the college in which he or she is enrolled. The college standards committee:

  1. reviews the petition and approves or denies it

    and

  2. forwards the petition to University Registrar Services.

If the petition is approved by the college standards committee, the committee notes on the petition whether approval is for the present or a future semester. University Registrar Services posts the following note on the Person Comment Entry page in OASIS “[Course prefix and number] APPRVD 3X date [date].”

If the petition is denied by the college standards committee, the committee forwards the petition to University Registrar Services.

The Graduation Committee prepares and forwards the petition to the University Standards Committee, which approves or denies it, and forwards it to University Registrar Services. The committee sends the student a copy of the results of the petition(s) with instructions to contact his or her college.

If the petition is approved, the student contacts University Registrar Services. University Registrar Services posts the approval to the Person Comment Entry page in OASIS and directs the student to any registrar site of University Registrar Services to register for (or add) the course. University Registrar Services checks the Person Comment Entry page in OASIS to verify that the petition was approved.

If the petition is approved before the drop/add deadline for the semester, University Registrar Services registers or adds the student back into the course that has been approved to be retaken.

If the petition is approved after the drop/add deadline and before the transaction deadline for the semester, the student must submit either an Initial Registration Request form approved by the dean of the student’s college or a Drop/Add Request form approved by the dean of the college offering the course. University Registrar Services registers or adds the course that has been approved to be retaken.

If the petition is approved after the transaction deadline for the semester, the college submits an approved Academic Record Change in order to register or add the course that has been approved to be retaken.

University Registrar Services posts the completed course to the student’s transcript.
