SPP 404–03: Standby Duty Program
To permit departments to establish standby duty programs
All regular classified employees and university staff
The university is not required to pay employees who are on call (see SPP 404–07, “On-Call Duty”). As an exception, a department may establish a standby duty program due to critical life/safety issues and when the practice of paying employees to stand by is necessary in order to assure timely response.
Departments must obtain approval in writing from Human Resources to implement a standby duty program.
