The principal investigator:
- prepares a proposal, preproposal, or letter of intent
- makes an appointment with the sponsor’s staff and
arranges travel and lodging
- obtains a TRIPS Application
and Approval Form from the Office of the Vice President for
Research and Economic Affairs (OVPREA)
- completes the form and obtains the signatures of the department
chair or center director and dean
and
- submits to the OVPREA the completed form along with a copy of
the proposal, preproposal, or letter of intent.
The vice president for research and economic affairs reviews the application for program requirements,
and decides whether to fund the trip.
The principal investigator:
- submits a travel authorization to Travel Reimbursements
- makes the trip

and
- submits a memorandum report of the meeting’s results to
the OVPREA.
