All proposals submitted through ASU for external funding that contain tuition waivers

Principal investigators are responsible for assuring that any request in their proposal for waiver of participant tuition is approved by the appropriate academic officials when the proposal is submitted.

Responsibility
Action
If the proposal contains a tuition waiver:
Principal investigator
  1. Request written approval for the tuition waiver from the responsible dean’s office.
After obtaining approval from the dean’s office:
  1. Request written approval for the tuition from the appropriate office, i.e., the Office of the Senior Vice President and Provost, Division of Graduate Studies, and/or Summer Sessions.
  2. Process the proposal as usual (see RSP 302, “Proposal Processing and Submission”).
Sponsored projects officer
  1. Check each proposal submitted to see if a tuition waiver is included. If so, make sure proper approvals have been obtained.
