Policy
[horizontal rule]

Sponsor guidelines may limit the number of proposals they will accept from a single institution.

To become eligible to submit a proposal for a limited submission opportunity, interested parties must submit an internal application to the Office for Research and Sponsored Projects Administration (ORSPA). Applications must be received by the deadline established by ORSPA for that specific opportunity.

When the number of internal applications does not exceed the sponsor’s limit, ORSPA will notify the internal applicants that they have received institutional approval to submit their proposals to the sponsor.

When the number of internal applications exceeds the sponsor’s limit, ORSPA notifies the Office of the Vice President for Research and Economic Affairs. A committee is appointed to determine which applications will receive institutional approval to submit a proposal. ORSPA informs all applicants of the committee’s decisions.

Proposals submitted for limited submission competitions, not approved through this process, may disqualify all ASU proposals. If the sponsor chooses to contact ASU to report that the application limit has been exceeded, ASU will withdraw all unauthorized proposals.

For more information on how RSP policies are implemented during each phase of a project, see the ORSPA Web site.
