PUR 403–02: Camp Tontozona

Purpose

To provide space at Camp Tontozona for university use

University faculty, staff, student groups, and off-campus, nonprofit groups

Policy

Camp Tontozona is available to university faculty and staff for family use, or for departmental or class use. The camp is also available to campus-affiliated student groups and graduate students.

All uses by the university community are subject to availability on a first-come, first-served basis. A fee is charged to help offset the cost of operating and maintaining Camp Tontozona.

When not being used by the university community, the camp is also available to outside, nonprofit groups such as other educational institutions, government agencies, and churches. Again, a fee is charged to offset expenses.

Facilities

Camp Tontozona is located approximately 20 miles east of Payson, Arizona. The camp contains the following facilities for rent:

Facility	Description
Executive Lodge	A large 2-bedroom, 1 1/2-bathroom cabin with fireplace, enclosed porch, spacious kitchen-dining area, and living area. Sleeps 7 in the bedrooms, but can accommodate up to 24 by utilizing the enclosed porch.
Sun Angel Manor	A 2- bedroom, 1-bathroom cabin, with full kitchen, dining, and living area, fireplace, and a balcony overlooking the creek. Sleeps 6.
Sun Devil Lodge	A 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom cabin with a large kitchen, dining and living area, and a wood-burning stove/fireplace. Sleeps 12.
Creekside Cabin	A large 4-bedroom cabin with a large great room and kitchen. Large porch with a great view. Sleeps up to 16. ADA accessible.
Sparky’s Den	A cozy 2-bedroom, 1-bath cabin with an iron pot-belly fireplace in the living room. Sleeps 7.
Family Units C, D, & E	Each cabin has a front room, back room, and a bathroom. The front room has a kitchenette area with a mini-refrigerator, stove, and oven. Cabin C sleeps 10; Cabin D sleeps 8; and Cabin E sleeps 8. Cabin D is equipped with a ramp and is wheelchair-accessible.
Dormitory	A large facility with 2 separate sleeping and bathroom areas that will accommodate 26 campers on each side.
Tall Pines Lodge	A large classroom building with a foyer and 4 separate classroom (3 of which can be opened to make 1 large meeting space). Men’s and women’s bathrooms with showers.
Little Creek Lodge	A large classroom building with 5 classrooms. Men’s and women’s bathrooms.

Camp guests need to bring their own bed linens, towels, cleaning supplies (i.e., soap, dishwashing detergent), dishes, utensils, and pots/pans.
