The ASU Police Department (ASU PD) Campus Security Assistant Program is designed to meet demands for security on campus when certified police officers are not required. ASU PD campus security assistants (CSAs) are available to assist university departments, groups, and organizations with security at university-sponsored or sanctioned special events or for special security needs when staffing permits.
| Note: | The Police Department, Special Events Section, determines the need for a certified police officer at special events (see PDP 202–01, “Security for Special Events”). |
Any group wishing to contract the services of the Campus Security Assistant Program must contact the ASU PD Special Events Section, either in writing or by telephone (480/965–5643) at least 10 working days before the event.
ASU PD provides requesting groups or individuals with a “Campus Security Assistant Special Events Contract,” which must be completed, signed, and returned to ASU PD at least five working days before the event.
ASU PD sends invoices to customers after an event, and customers should pay for services within five days from receipt of invoice. The requesting department or university-authorized group must provide ASU PD with a purchase order for payment for services. Groups or organizations without university accounts must deposit a check with ASU PD. ASU PD provides compensation to the CSAs at a university-approved rate through the Human Resources Management System from the designated ASU PD local account.
