PCS 1004–03: Transfer of Sponsor-Titled Equipment

To ensure the transfer of sponsor-owned equipment in accordance with federal and university requirements

Applicability

University employees transferring equipment

Policy

University personnel are responsible for notifying the ASU sponsored projects officer and sponsored property coordinator when sponsored-owned equipment is being transferred to another university.

Equipment is generally transferred because faculty members move themselves and their research to other universities. Shipping or freight charges will be paid for by the university receiving the property.

Procedure

The department/employee requests an equipment transfer authorization from Property Control.

Property Control requests, in writing, the equipment transfer from the sponsor.

Property Control:

1. obtains the equipment transfer departure date from the department
2. removes ASU Property Control tags from the equipment prior to the equipment departure date

   and

3. removes the equipment from the Property Control database.
