ICA 103–02: ICA Board
To explain the role of the Intercollegiate Athletics Board
NCAA Division I Manual, Constitution, Article 6.1.2
Office of the President
Intercollegiate Athletics Board
The Intercollegiate Athletics Board (ICA Board) advises the president on all activities and aspects of the intercollegiate athletics program at ASU. As representatives of the faculty, student, administrative, and alumni groups, whose interests are reflected in its membership, the ICA Board, through its advisory role, has the responsibility to oversee the intercollegiate athletics programs to ensure that they are conducted in a manner consistent with the goals of the university and the Statement of Philosophy of Intercollegiate Athletics at Arizona State University. The ICA Board concentrates its attention primarily on those matters that relate to the welfare of student-athletes, the academic standards and policies for those who participate in intercollegiate athletics, and the university’s obligation to comply with the requirements of the Pacific-12 Conference and the National Collegiate Athletic Association, but is authorized to review any aspect of the intercollegiate athletics program. When a substantial change from customary practice is contemplated or in any other circumstances when the executive director of Athletics believes consultation with the ICA Board would be useful, the executive director of Athletics should consult with the ICA Board.
