Africanized Honey Bees in Arizona, Urban Integrated Pest Management Program, Department of Entomology, University of Arizona

All departments discovering or personnel answering calls of reported Africanized bee activity
![]()
In the event of reported and/or suspected Africanized bee infestation(s), Facilities Management personnel will be sent to the area of infestation and will take immediate steps to safeguard life and mitigate a hazardous condition. The reported site will be inspected by trained personnel to determine if an actual Africanized bee problem exists.
If it is determined that an Africanized bee infestation does exist, it will be dealt with as an emergency situation, and the ASU Police Department will be contacted immediately.
| Note: | Any reported bee infestations always must be treated as an “Africanized (killer) bee” emergency, since it cannot be determined otherwise without special laboratory testing. |
