To prevent work-related illnesses and injuries by providing appropriate occupational health and safety or risk management-related training to university employees

Applicability

Employees identified by the job functions listed in the “Job Functions that Require Training” table

Departments and units shall require that employees covered by the standards cited under “Sources” attend initial training and annual refresher training. In addition, Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) shall provide health and safety training to university employees as required. For a current schedule of EH&S training classes, please go to the Training Schedule on the EH&S Web site and select the appropriate campus location.

Procedures

Consult the “Job Functions that Require Training” table to determine whether an employee must attend specific health and safety training.

Supervisors must identify job-specific hazards and require that their employees attend safety training appropriate to the type of work they perform prior to assuming their job duties.

Employees should consult with their supervisors and the “Job Functions that Require Training” table to register for the appropriate EH&S trainings required for their job functions.

To schedule health and safety training for individual departments and units, contact Environmental Health & Safety at 480/965–1823. To register for training courses, please go to the Environmental Health & Safety Training Schedules and select the appropriate campus for class dates and times. If you encounter difficulties with the registration process, contact LMS@asu.edu.
