Projects may be proposed involving remodeling, renovation, and/or construction of new facilities. These projects may vary in size and scope from a few hundred dollars to millions of dollars, and they may vary by the source of funds. Policy varies for projects that fall into one of several categories. The categories are:
These projects must proceed through the Arizona Board of Regents’ (ABOR) capital development process and must appear in the regents-approved Arizona State University Capital Development Plan.
These projects are submitted for funding consideration during the annual capital project request process.
This category is further subdivided into projects that will be constructed in-house by Facilities Management and projects that will be constructed through a contract with an independent contractor. Facilities Management (FM)/Capital Programs Management Group (CPMG) will determine when an independent design consultant and contractor are required, and the costs for the services will be included in the estimate of project cost.
Small projects may be initiated through a FacMan Service Work Order. Large projects requiring an independent design consultant and contractor are normally initiated through the CPMG using a Capital Project Request for Estimate.
