To protect the health and safety of university faculty, staff, students, and visitors on the campuses of ASU

ASU recognizes that tobacco use is a public health hazard and is dedicated to providing a healthy, comfortable, and educationally productive learning environment for faculty, staff, students, and visitors.

The university complies with state law on smoking.

Policy

[horizontal rule]

Smoking and the use of smokeless tobacco products are prohibited in or on all university:

  1. owned property
  2. leased property
  3. facilities
  4. grounds
  5. parking structures (including in privately owned vehicles)

    and

  6. university-owned vehicles.

Exceptions are:

  1. privately owned vehicles (on public roads)

    and

  2. leased university residences that have been designated as smoking.
