ACD 303: Effort Reports
To define the requirements for effort certification for university employees, in order to comply with federal cost principles and sponsor requirements
Office of Knowledge Enterprise Development, Operations, Research Operations
Exempt and nonexempt employees paid from and/or with stated cost-share commitments to sponsored projects
In order to comply with federal regulations and sponsor requirements, employees who are paid from or have a stated cost-share commitment to one or more sponsored projects must have 100 percent of their university effort certified via the university’s effort reporting system each effort reporting period.
If compensated effort or cost-share commitments have changed after the effort report has been certified for the period, e.g., cost-share commitments or payroll redistributions, then a new effort report for the period must be certified.
Procedures for completing Effort Reports are found in the Research and Sponsored Projects Policies and Procedures Manual—RSP 502–03, “Certification of Sponsored Project Effort.”
