Faculty

All classes and schedules are arranged and administered under the authority of the dean and the executive vice president and provost of the university. In assigning faculty duties the colleges and departments should recognize that laboratory development and supervision, direction of student research and independent study, administrative assignments, approved research and curatorial service in the interest of the university, are legitimate partial equivalents of class instruction and legitimate demands upon a faculty member’s time. University service such as committee assignments and advisement are a normal component of university work above and beyond regular teaching loads.
